LEWISTON — Mignonne “Midge” Pomerleau, 88, of Montello Manor, and long-time resident of Maison Marcotte, passed away on Wednesday, May 11.
Midge was born in Lewiston, Feb. 10, 1923, the daughter of Romeo and Emella (Maheux) Pomerleau and blessed with a wonderful stepmother, Rejeanne Gagnon Pomerleau. She was educated at St. Peter’s School and worked at various places including the Mohican Bakery/Market in Lewiston, where she worked as an icer, and Supreme Slipper, where she was employed as a stitching room supervisor until her retirement.
Midge was the quintessential “aunt who always had gum in her purse.” She had a great sense of humor and usually wore a smile on her face … right to the end of her life. She will be missed by many.
Survivors include a sister, Gratia of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Edna Pomerleau of Reading Mass.; 10 nieces and nephews, including Cecile Thornton, who resides locally; and 16 great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Armand in 2003; and a sister, Yvette Desjardins in 2007.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Montello Commons, Montello Manor and Androscoggin Hospice for their loving care and attention.
