Navy Seaman Recruit (SR) Joshua P. Mockler, USN Division 914, graduated on March 2 from Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

As a result of his achievements during eight weeks of training, Mockler was awarded the Navy League Award. The award is presented to a graduating recruit whose performance of duty during the training period was outstanding.

In addition, Mockler was Division Recruit Chief Petty Officer of Division 914, consisting of 78 navy recruits. USN Division 914, the highest-scoring division, was further awarded Most Outstanding Division among the six divisions graduating on March 2.

Mockler was selected as the recruit review commander of the graduation ceremony. The recruit review commander is responsible for leading the recruits through the formal military ceremony. During this ceremony, Mockler led the group of 446 graduating recruits.

Mockler is attending “A” school in Goose Creek, S.C., where he is studying nuclear engineering. Mockler is a 2006 graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn and is the son of Christine Mockler of Auburn and Phillip Mockler of Wales.
