Army National Guard Spec. Sarah J. Card is returning to the U.S. after a deployment to Iraqi or Afghanistan in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom, respectively.
The soldiers will return to Fort Dix, N.J. for debriefing, evaluations and out-processing procedures before returning to their regularly assigned Army Reserve or National Guard units.
The specialist served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in the Iraq Theater of Operations. While deployed, she was decorated with the Army Achievement Medal and the Joint Service Commendation Medal for her distinguished service. In addition, she was named the Battalion Soldier of the Month and Soldier of the Quarter.
Card, a wheeled vehicle mechanic, is a member of the 286th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, based in Bangor. She has more than three years of military service.
She resides in Sabattus. In 2002, she graduated from Franklin High School, Auburn.
