Millions donated to Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) – Dartmouth College is reporting a successful fundraising year: nearly $160 million in charitable donations.

A college spokeswoman said Dartmouth raised $159.1 million during the fiscal year that ended on June 30. Altogether, 40,906 Dartmouth alumni, parents, friends, foundations and corporations contributed to various college fundraising programs, the college said.

Dartmouth president James Wright said he’s particularly struck by the large number of younger alumni contributing to the college – 80 percent of the class of 2007 made donations.
