AUBURN — Minerva M. Small, 86, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, May 24.
She was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Bowdoin, a daughter of Arthur and Edna (Skelton) Card. She lived her entire life in this area. After graduating from Lisbon High School, she went to work at the Worumbo Mill as a spinner and weaver.
She was married to Basil Small from 1945 to 1960. He passed away in 1990. Minerva later went to work at the Libbey Mill in Lewiston, retiring in 2000. She found enjoyment in doing yard work, gardening, going to the ocean and traveling to Florida to visit her brother. She had a great fondness for animals, especially dogs and cats with a special love for her cat, “Jake.”
Minerva is survived by her daughter, Mary L. Anguiano and her husband, Lupe, of Topsham; her sister-in-law, Abby Card of Brunswick; her nieces, Irene Olsen, Betty Brillant, Vicki Card, Gini Card and Penny McGonigle; and her nephews, Harold Card, Thomas Card, Frank Card and John Card.
Besides her parents and former husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Harry Card and Arthur Card Jr.
