Mobile health unit holds screenings on Tuesdays

FARMINGTON – The Healthy Community Coalition’s Mobile Health Unit is back in front of the Farmington Wal-Mart from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, offering free ScoreHealth screenings.

ScoreHealth is a health risk assessment program that includes cholesterol screening, total and HDL, blood pressure, counseling on nutrition, physical activity, tobacco cessation and stress management. Results will be given at the end of each visit and a copy can also be sent to a primary care provider.

The Healthy Community Coalition is the community’s connection to health information and the local health care system. The coalition staff can explain the options that are available in greater Franklin County, including Franklin Health Access, for those with no health insurance or those with a high deductible.

The mobile health unit staff can help those who are new in the area and need a physician. The physician referral line, a toll free number, can also help. The number is 1-800-450-2075.

The coalition also provides free walking maps, nutritional information and recipes and tobacco cessation information. Visitors may also qualify for no-cost mammograms offered through the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program.

The United Way of the Tri-Valley area provides funding to offer the free ScoreHealth screenings. People can visit the unit any Tuesday.

The coalition is a Healthy Maine Partnership and an affiliate of the Franklin Community Health Network. For more information, call 645-3136 or 1-800-525-3136 or visit www.fchn.org/hcc.
