GARDINER – Brandon Moffett started a fourth-quarter rally with a key steal to lead the Oxford Hills Vikings to an eventual 59-52 win over the Gardiner Tigers in boys KVAC hoops Tuesday.
Josh Childs tallied 10 of his 17 total points in the fourth to help lead the comeback. Moffett finished the contest with 13 points, while Ben Goodall contributed 10. Sean McNally led the Gardiner (4-6) effort with a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Cape Elizabeth 80, Poland 68
CAPE ELIZABETH – Shane Burkes poured in a game-high 25 points as Cape Elizabeth posted an 80-68 win over Poland.
Tommy Ray added 19 points, while Will Hall contributed 12 for the Capers. The Knights were led with a solid performance by Joe Douglas with 24 points and Mimi Knowles with 19.
Dirigo 69, Livermore Falls 38
DIXFIELD – Tom Knight led all players with 19 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks to lead an undefeated Dirigo team to a 69-38 win over Livermore Falls.
Mike Holmquist added 17 points, six rebounds, three steals and three blocks in the Dirigo win. The Cougars held a 38-19 lead at the half, and never looked back. The Andies’ (7-4) Zach Keene tallied 10 points.
St. Dom’s 58, Sacopee Valley 45
HIRAM – Dave Roux scored 13 points and Joe Bonneau chipped in 11 to lead St. Dom’s to a 58-45 win over Sacopee Valley in WMC boys’ basketball play Tuesday.
The Hawks (2-8) were paced by Dustin Stanton’s 15 points.
Oxford Hills 71, Gardiner 34
SOUTH PARIS – Kari Pelletier and Terry Bunce each tallied 19 points to lead Oxford Hills to a 71-34 win over Gardiner.
The Vikings held a commanding 34-18 lead going into the second half, and went on to dominate in the third quarter, outscoring the Tigers 21-6. Lauron Brett added 11 points for the Vikings.
Genny Gerwood scored 11 points Gardiner.
Dirigo 44, Livermore Falls 34
LIVERMORE FALLS – Dirigo outscored Livermore Falls 15-5 in the second quarter and went on to a 44-34 victory over the Andies.
Livermore (6-5) had built a 12-11 lead in the first quarter, but the top-seeded Cougars (11-0) defense shut down the Andies.
Katherine Gagne led the Cougars with 10 points, while Shannon Daley and Abby Fenstermacher chipped in nine and eight points, respectively. The Andies were led by Caryn Howell with 12 points and Rachel Ventrella with nine.
Madison 51, Mountain Valley 23
MADISON – Margo Russell scored 20 points and hauled in seven rebounds to lead Madison to a 51-23 win over Mountain Valley.
Russell went nine-for-nine from the free throw line to lead the Bulldogs (7-3). Briann Emery chipped in 10 points for Madison, which broke open a 30-22 edge after three quarters with a 21-1 outburst in the final quarter. Mountain Valley (4-7) got five points from Vanessa Cayer.
Cape Elizabeth 47, Poland 39
POLAND – Cape Elizabeth’s Anna Boulos scored 14 points en route to a 47-39 win over Poland.
Samantha Culver added eight points for the Capers.
Paige Piper tallied 11 points, while Danielle Belanger added nine for the Knights.
Monmouth 48, Winthrop 45
MONMOUTH – Brittany Scirica scored 14 points, six of which came in the fourth quarter, as Monmouth edged past Winthrop, 48-45.
Cortney Barrett and Jenn Lola had 11 points apiece for the Mustangs (9-2). The Ramblers (4-6) were led by Amanda Garwood with 18 points.
EL wins KVAC
AUGUSTA – Edward Little performed a penalty-free routine to capture its first Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A cheering championship. The Red Eddies finished with 151.2 points. Lewiston edged Lawrence for second place, 142.4-142.3.
Leavitt placed sixth.
Oak Hill finished second to Rockland in Class B.
