Money approved for digital maps of town

LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen agreed by consensus Tuesday to use $5,000 from the town’s contingency fund to purchase geographical information system maps of the town.

The maps will allow the sewer and water lines to be mapped and are expected to help with town ordinances.

The remaining $2,500 of the $7,500 cost will be contributed by the Livermore Falls Water District, Livermore Falls Town Manager Kristal Flagg said Wednesday.

The maps will be made using orthoimagery data done with high resolution aerial images.

Flagg had hoped the flyover to take the images could be done in conjunction with the town of Fayette, if it had images done, to save money. That won’t be the case.

On Tuesday night, Fayette residents voted 14-13 not to buy the maps, Town Manager Mark Robinson said Wednesday.
