Mother left 2- and 4-year-old home alone, police charge

FARMINGTON – A Farmington woman ended up in jail Saturday after she was accused of leaving her young sons alone for several hours, police said.

Patrolman Darin Gilbert said he arrested Ashley M. Fortin, 22, on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

He received a report about 7:30 a.m. Saturday that two boys, 2 and 4 years old, were left alone in an apartment on High Street, Gilbert said Monday.

Through an investigation, it was determined that Fortin had left her boys home alone for several hours, Gilbert said.

Fortin was released on $5,000 unsecured bail Saturday from the Franklin County jail in Farmington.

She is scheduled to appear in 12th District Court in Farmington on Aug. 23.

Attempts to reach Fortin were unsuccessful Monday.
