Motorcyclist injured in crash

AUBURN – An Auburn man was injured when he was thrown from his motorcycle after colliding with the rear of a vehicle Sunday afternoon.

Michael A. Tufts, 36, of 11 Rochelle St. was traveling north on Washington Street around 12:10 p.m. when he collided with Andrea P. Defillip, 69, of 10 Pauline Ave., Lewiston.

“Defillip was coming to a stop behind a line of cars waiting for a vehicle to make a left-hand turn onto Moose Brook Road,” Auburn Police Sgt. Gary Boulet said. “Tufts hit the back of her car and went flying off of his bike.”

Tufts was taken to Central Maine Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition Sunday night.

“He had a lot of injuries, but it looks like he’s going to be OK,” Boulet said.

Defillip was not injured in the collision. Damages to her 1999 Mercury was estimated at $1,000.

Damage to the 1982 Kawasaki driven by Tufts and owned by Charles Davis of West Kennebunk, was also estimated at $1,000.
