BETHEL – Mountain Valley jumped out to a 15-8 first-quarter lead, then pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 52-35 triumph over Telstar in Mountain Valley Conference girls’ basketball action Monday.
Vanessa Cayer scored 14 points and Katlin Drury 12 to lead Mountain Valley (7-8). Megan Smith finished with 12 points and Josie Reiss 10 for the Rebels (7-9).
Rangeley 43, Greenville 39
GREENVILLE – Krista Jamison and Angela White scored 12 points each as Rangeley defeated Greenville, 43-39, in girls’ basketball action Monday.
Hayley White scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Sam Olivieri added six points, four steals and three assists for Rangeley (10-4). Brittany Boucher was the leading scorer for Greenville (9-5) with 11 points.
Gould 42, Greater Portland Christian 35
BETHEL – Seana Siekman poured in 17 points to lead Gould to a 42-35 win over Greater Portland Christian in girls’ basketball action Monday.
Carol Lin and Chelsea O’Brien added eight points apiece for Gould (8-6). Vicki Woodward paced GPC with 13 points, while Danielle Woodward added 11 points.
Georges Valley 54, Boothbay 41
THOMASTON – Ashley Geel put on a dominating performance, scoring 31 points and pulling down 13 rebounds to lead Georges Valley to a 54-41 win over Boothbay in MVC girls’ basketball action Monday.
Ali Hartley led Boothbay with 15 points, while Brittany Markowski added 12.
Winthrop 51, Lisbon 46
WINTHROP – Amanda Garwood netted nine of her 19 points in the third quarter as Winthrop opened up a close game, finishing off Lisbon 51-46 in MVC basketball.
Katie Pushard chipped in with 15 points, eight from the foul line, to help seal the win. Garwood and Pushard both contributed four assists and three steals in the win for the Ramblers (7-8).
Emily Moore sparked the Greyhounds (6-9) with 13 points, with Christy McAuliffe chipping in 11 points.
