“Mr. Barrington”

BUXTON – Honey Tree Films and Pro-Active Entertainment will release “Mr. Barrington,” a 35mm feature film produced and shot in Buxton, Standish and Parsonsfield, on DVD April 25.

The film stars Maine actor and musician Jennifer Nichole Porter, who wrote the screenplay and composed and performed the film score. Co-starring in the film are Eric Schweig of “Last of the Mohicans,” Brian McCardie of “Rob Roy,” and Jonelle Allen of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.”

Regional actors C. James Roberts, Nancy Davis, William McDonough III and Theresa Mattor are also featured.

Porter’s husband and longtime collaborator, Dana Packard, produced, directed, and edited the film.

“Mr. Barrington” is the story of a woman haunted by her past, a beguiling stranger who works his way into her psyche and a husband who races to uncover the secrets of her history before they destroy her.

“Mr. Barrington,” which had a production budget of $500,000 was financed primarily by Maine investors. It was shot in 18 days; 14 at Porter and Packard’s home, a three-story 1850s Victorian they bought in Portland in 1995 for $10 and moved 25 miles to Buxton.

Three days were shot at the historic Parsonsfield Seminary.

One day of filming took place at the Chicopee Lumberyard in Standish, where two employees appeared as extras.
