KINGFIELD — In an effort to support patients and members of the community, Mt. Abram Regional Health Center held a Thanksgiving Food Drive from Oct. 27 to Nov. 24. The response was heartwarming.
The staff and patients of the health center collected 291 pounds of nonperishable food, 26 pounds of nonfood items and over $250 that was used to purchase additional perishable food. The food drive also received special local support from Tranten’s General Store and Longfellow’s Restaurant.
“Without the combined help and generosity of staff, patients and local businesses, the effort would not have been the wonderful success that it was,” said Carolyn Tranten, practice manager at Mt. Abram Regional Health Center. “We wish to say thank you to everyone who came forward to provide what they could for their neighbors in need.”
Once the donations were collected, health center staff distributed to individuals and families who were struggling to keep food on the table for the Thanksgiving holiday.
