LEWISTON — Nancy J. Goupil passed away on Sunday, May 9, in Lewiston after a long-standing illness, surrounded by family and friends. Her beautifully unforgettable smile, loving ways and love of life will live forever in the hearts of all she touched.
She was born in Lewiston, Jan. 27, 1956, to Jackie Goupil of Lewiston and Lucien Joseph Goupil, who predeceased her in 1969.
She graduated from Lewiston High School before attending UMO, where she majored in computer science. She returned to live in Lewiston after spending time in Turner, Boothbay Harbor, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Florida.
She was truly loved by all who knew her. While she had many passions in life which included boating, fishing and music, above all she loved people, especially children and was a great lover of animals. To her, the sun rose and set with her beloved brother Jimmy.
Her job as home health aide worker could not have fit her better — for she, being a home health aide was no mere profession — it was another one of her deep passions. She cherished caring for people who could not care for themselves and loved her patients as dearly as they loved her.
In addition to her mother Jackie, she is survived by her “baby brother” Jimmy Goupil of Lewiston; brother, Normand Goupil of Portland; and many wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Her hundreds of friends, too numerous to mention, will miss her, including this writer, Jerry. An informal wake took place at her brother Jimmy’s home in Lewiston on Thursday, May 13.
She enriched us with her smiles, passions and love. We will always love you, remember you and hold you close in our hearts.
