LEWISTON — Sabattus Street will see a new coin-operated laundry and, about a quarter mile up the road, a new Cumberland Farms across from the current Cumberland Farms.
City Planner David Hediger said demolition of the Wildwood car wash and laundromat and an auto detailing shop at 753 to 793 Sabattus St. this week will make way for a new Cumberland Farms.
Cumberland Farms Inc. is the new owner of those properties. Spokesman Derek Beckwith said construction could begin as soon as next week and they plan to wrap by spring. The new convenience store will be larger with more food and coffee offerings.
Plans for the current store were unknown.
Farther down the street, a new laundromat is going into the newly-renovated 518 Sabattus St., at the intersection with Russell Street. That building, owned by Paul Rancourt, was the former home to Deshaies Lobster Salad.
