New Lions Club being formed in Jay, Livermore Falls


JAY — The Wilton Lions Club is sponsoring a new club in the Jay and Livermore Falls area.

An informational meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 3, at the VFW Hall on the corner of Jewell Street and Route 133 in Jay. Anyone interested in becoming a charter member is welcome to attend. The club will be for men and women, and a Leo Club will be for youths ages 12 to 18.

Lions Clubs International is the largest humanitarian service organization in the world, with 45,000 clubs in more than 200 countries. In 1925, Helen Keller challenged the organization to assist people with impaired vision and blindness, prompting the it to provide eyeglasses and services since then.
