New Portland man charged after vehicle window shot out

FARMINGTON — A New Portland man faces charges after he allegedly shot out the back window of an ex-girlfriend’s Jeep, Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Michelle St. Clair said Monday.

Randy C. Grover Jr., 28, was arrested Sunday on charges of criminal mischief with a firearm and reckless conduct with a firearm, St. Clair said.

The window was shot out with a shotgun while it was parked at a residence on Route 4 in Avon. It was reported to police at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, she said.

Damage was done to both the back and front windows, she said.

Franklin and Somerset county deputies and Maine State Police searched for Grover on Saturday including at his residence but didn’t locate him, St. Clair said.

Grover turned himself in to Maine State Police Trooper Scott Stevens on Sunday, she said.

Stevens drove Grover to the Franklin County Jail in Farmington where St. Clair interviewed him and arrested him.

Grover was released on $500 cash bail Sunday. He is scheduled to appear in a Farmington court on June 25.
