FARMINGTON — Police in Farmington released the name of a New York man killed in a Saturday afternoon crash.
Deputy Shane Cote of the Farmington Police Department reported that Thomas Drummond, 59, of St. Regis Falls, N.Y., died in the 4:50 p.m. accident Saturday at the intersection of Farmington Falls and Mason roads.
A news release issued by Cote reported that Drummond was traveling east in his 1969 Volkswagen van on Farmington Falls Road when Theresa White, 46, of Ashburnham, Mass., pulled out in front of him attempting to cross Mason Road.
White, who was operating a 2006 GMC pickup, told authorities that she was temporarily blinded by the sun as she pulled out into the roadway.
Drummond’s van left the road after striking White’s pickup.
White was not injured, but Drummond was declared dead on the scene. According to the police, the accident remains under investigation and blood tests will be analyzed in Augusta.
The Farmington Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, the University of Maine at Farmington Police, Wilton Police and the Maine State Police.
