News 8 wins Murrow Award


PORTLAND — For the third consecutive year, News 8 WMTW-TV has been awarded the Edward R. Murrow Award. This year, it was for the best newscast.

The awards were announced in Boston by the Radio and Television News Directors Association.

This year’s award marks the fourth Murrow that News 8 has received in the last three years. News 8 also received Murrow awards for breaking news and continuous coverage in 2008 and 2009.

The Radio and Television News Director Association has honored outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. The region 10 Edward R. Murrow Award encompasses small market stations from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
