Durham crash throws teen onto iced-over swamp

DURHAM — A 17-year-old Lewiston boy escaped serious injury when he was thrown from a car onto an ice-covered swamp Monday night on Pinkham Brook Road.

According Androscoggin County Deputy Mark Caron, Jordan German and two other people were passengers in a car driven by 17-year-old Emily Taylor of 37 Meadowlane Road in Auburn.

The car was traveling south on Pinkham Brook Road when it veered off the right shoulder at the Meadow Road intersection, rolled over several times, ejecting 17-year-old Jordan German.

German complained of back and arm pain and was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by Durham Fire & Rescue.

Two other passengers, Cortney Carver, 18, of 252 Pond Road in Lewiston, and Phillip Tapley, 19, also of 252 Pond Road, escaped apparent injury, Caron said, but were transported to CMMC for evaluation.

All three passengers were later released.

The 2000 Subaru Legacy Taylor was driving was totaled in the 9:02 p.m. crash.

No charges were filed.

teens crash

"no charges were filed" - altho they probably have been scared enough, why were they not charged for not wearing seat belts. he never would have been thrown clear had he had a seat belt on. probably he and the driver were too busy texting to fasten their belts. just dumb luck they weren't all killed
