Frankfort woman faces sentencing in death of baby

BELFAST — A Frankfort woman police say was passed out drunk when the family dog mauled her 7-month-old daughter to death is scheduled to be sentenced.

WMTW-TV (http://bit.ly/YCUL7B ) reports that Katrina Mitchell of Frankfort is expected to be sentenced Wednesday in Waldo Country Superior Court in Belfast.

The 31-year-old Mitchell pleaded no contest in December to a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities say 7-month-old Annabelle Mitchell was fatally mauled by the family's Rottweiler in the living room of their home in April 2011 while Mitchell was drunk and passed out on a couch. The baby's father was not home. The dog was later euthanized.

Mitchell's bail was revoked in December when she was arrested on drunken driving charges.
