State trooper injured in Presque Isle crash

PRESQUE ISLE — A Maine state trooper has been flown to a Bangor hospital after his cruiser was involved in a crash with another vehicle in Presque Isle.

Police say Trooper Shawn Whalen sustained a hip injury in the crash on Route 1 at about 4:20 p.m. on Monday.

Whalen was driving south when he attempted to turn around in the roadway to reverse direction.

Police say his cruiser was struck by a car driven by 49-year-old Eric Rosten of Presque Isle. Rosten suffered a minor hand injury but did not go to a hospital.

Whalen's police dog was in his cruiser but was unhurt.

Both vehicles were total losses.

The crash remains under investigation.

This trooper is in big doo-doo. illegal U-turn. Probably had a m/v coming toward him on radar speeding and made a quick u turn to go after the speeder.
