LIVERMORE FALLS — A local man is accused of stealing a laptop valued at about $500 from an office on Pine Avenue, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday.

Robert Silver, 27, of Livermore Falls was arrested Friday on misdemeanor charges of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and receiving stolen property, he said.

When the laptop was recovered it was stripped of its hard drive and battery, Steward said.

Silver was taken to Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn. He was released on $250 cash bail.

He is scheduled to appear at 1 p.m. May 15 at 8th District Court in Lewiston.
