NAPLES, Maine (AP) — The Maine Department of Transportation is celebrating the opening of a new bridge in Naples.
Friday's event marks the transfer of traffic from the old bridge to the new one, the Bay of Naples Bridge, which is an important milestone in the $9.2 million restoration of the Naples causeway.
Traffic in both directions will be closed during a parade.
The ceremony doesn't mean the causeway project is done. Maine DOT says the projected completion date is May 2013, though it may be completed sooner.
