Maine wardens find missing mom and 2 kids in Argyle Township

ARGYLE TOWNSHIP, Maine (AP) — The Maine Warden Service says a mother and her two children are safe after they became lost while walking in the woods near their home in Argyle Township.

Officials say 42-year-old Kristina Ivey called for help at about 8 p.m. Wednesday to report she and her 9- and 14-year-old children were lost and darkness was approaching.

Neighbors had made voice contact with Ivey, but they were unable to locate her.

Wardens took a compass bearing on Ivey's distance voice. The three were located about 500 yards into the woods. They were led back to their home.

The Maine State Police, the Penobscot Nation Warden Service and the Penobscot Country Sheriff's Department also responded to the call for help.
