LEWISTON — Efforts by Community Credit Union employees, board members and customers recently raised almost $1,500 to purchase diapers for Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care.
Board members and employees of the credit union started the Diaper Drive by making personal contributions that amounted to $480. In addition, they held a 50/50 raffle during the month of December to help raise additional funds. The raffle raised more than $1,800, with half going to the Diaper Drive and the other half going to a credit union member.
Betsy Norcross Plourde, executive director for Androscoggin Head Start, expressed thanks for the diapers purchased with the donation, noting the agency uses more than 900 diapers a week. Head Start provides prekindergarten and child care services, education, nutrition and support for families. For more information, call Androscoggin Head Start at 795-4040.
