Verso sets record with UW donation

JAY — Verso Paper Corp.’s Androscoggin Mill employees held the most successful United Way fundraising drive in the mill's history this year, with the facility's employees presenting a symbolic check to the United Way of the Tri-Valley Area for $138,308.45 earlier this month.

This year’s United Way fundraising committee and other employees raised about $20,000 more than the 2011 campaign and about $50,000 more than the 2010 donations.

The Verso corporate office also contributes to the United Way campaigns at each of its locations nationwide. That amount is not included in the total. In addition, retirees of the mill donated about $200.

This past year, the UWTVA provided funding to 16 programs coordinated by 15 nonprofit agencies
