Poland Spring truck fleet earns award

Tom Hathaway, Poland Spring Water Company’s internal trucking fleet manager, left, accepts  the 2012 Maine Motor Transport Association Grand Champion Award from Mark Laurusevage of Great West Casualty Company, a sponsor of the MMTA award, at the MMTA’s annual banquet in Portland on Jan. 10. Poland Spring has been previously recognized by MMTA for its consistent focus on driver safety, winning the second place “Safest Fleet” award in 2010 and first place in 2011 for motor carriers in its mileage category. This is the first year the company has earned the coveted “Grand Champion” recognition for the 4 million mile and under category. The award is the highest safety honor presented to a member of the Maine Motor Transport Association and is given annually to two carriers judged to have the most outstanding safety record and safety program.
