Pair arrested on drug charges

AUBURN — A local woman and a man from New York were arrested on drug charges Thursday after police and federal agents searched an apartment on Pine Street and seized cash and crack cocaine.

Danielle  Bailey, 25, of Auburn, was arrested on a charge of aggravated drug trafficking.

Wilson Martinez, 27, of Brooklyn, was arrested on the same charge and on a warrant charging a violation probation stemming from weapons charges in New York.

Both were arrested by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officials, who were assisted in the search by Auburn police, Androscoggin County Sheriff's deputies and agents from the federal High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area task force.

MDEA Supervisor Matthew Cashman said agents seized $5,000 in cash and $2,500 worth of crack when they searched the apartment at about 4:30 p.m.

Police and drug agents obtained a warrant for the search after investigating reports that a man and woman had been dealing crack out of the home.

Martinez and Baily were taken to Androscoggin County Jail where each was being held on $10,000 bail Thursday night.
