AUBURN — A one-person crash temporarily closed Route 4 in Auburn on Sunday morning,
According to Auburn Deputy Chief Jason Moen, 25-year-old Amy Greene of Lewiston was northbound on Route 4 in a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta when the car went off the road and hit a tree.
The accident occurred in front of the boat launch on Turner Street about 7:45 a.m.
Firefighters had to extricate Greene from her vehicle. She was taken to Central Maine Medical Center and was in critical condition, according to a news release.
The road was closed for approximately 30 minutes.
Moen said the cause of the crash is unknown and remains under investigation. The Auburn Police Department was assisted in the investigation by a crash reconstructionist from the Lewiston Police Department.
No further information on Greene's condition was available on Sunday night.
