DURHAM — The search was on Wednesday night for a pair of armed men who reportedly robbed the Get & Go convenience store on Royalsborough Road.
State and local police were searching for suspects after it was reported that the men threatened a store clerk with a gun and a knife and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, fleeing in a white extended-cab pickup truck.
One suspect was wearing ski goggles, police were told. The other wore a mask over his face.
The robbery was reported at about 8:30 p.m. Police began searching along Riverside Drive as the suspects were reportedly seen heading toward Auburn.
State police were heading the investigation while officers from Lewiston, Auburn and the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department were on the lookout for the men.
The store, popular with morning and evening commuters, is open until 9 p.m. on weeknights.
Anyone with information is urged to call Maine State Police Trooper Ricci Cote at 1-800-228-0857.
