Make your own snowshoes

Maine comes alive with quiet beauty during the tranquil winter months. One of the best ways to enjoy Maine’s winter wonderland is to go snowshoeing. A demonstration at the Auburn Public Library from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, will show participants how to use natural materials to make working snowshoes. There will also be a display of snowshoes new and old. Those in attendance will be given the chance to try out a pair of snowshoes on the library lawn provided there is still snow. The program will take place in the Androscoggin Community Room, 49 Spring St. Martin Gagnon is pictured with a homemade snowshoe.
