A month of thankfulness

First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., South Paris, is in the midst of “A Month of Thankfulness” as they celebrate 200 years as a church in this community. Originally incorporated on Nov. 4, 1812 by 12 woman and two men, the church is flourishing 200 years later. On Sunday, Nov. 18, Thanksgiving Sunday, they are sending out an invitation to old friends and new to join them in worship. “Each year the church holds a Friend’s Day,” said pastor Don Mayberry, “and we often do it on Thanksgiving Sunday because it seems like such a natural time to gather in worship.” Church and Sunday school is at 10 a.m. and everyone is welcome. The church is handicap accessible with a lift in the rear of the church. Sunday services are broadcast live on AM 1450 and AM 780.
