On Sept. 2, Marek Johnson of Auburn presented the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society of Lewiston with the donations from his sixth birthday party. Marek, a first-grade student at Fairview Elementary School, asked for donations for the pets in lieu of birthday gifts. Party guests generously donated pet food, treats and funds to help care for the thousands of unwanted animals the Humane Society helps each year. Marek is pictured with his father, Brad Johnson, mother, Sarah, and little sister, Mallory Johnson.
