Sept. 11 remembrance

With support from the Sabattus Fire Department, Police Department and American Legion Post 135, the Town of Sabattus provided a 9/11 Remembrance Walk and ceremony on Sept. 11 to reflect on the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. The ceremony included remarks by Sabattus firefighter Kyle Galarneau followed by a tradition called "striking the four fives" by firefighter Adam Rinko. Additional remarks were provided by Androscoggin County Sheriff Guy Desjardins, American Legion Post 135 Commander James Caron, Sabattus Board of Selectmen Chairman Rhonda Fournier and a representative on behalf of Sen. Olympia Snowe. Invocation was offered by the American Legion Post 135 Chaplain Jim Rancourt. Pictured from left and representing all firefighters, law enforcement officials, first responders, the military and veterans is Fire Chief Don Therrien of Sabattus Fire Department, Sheriff Guy P. Desjardins of Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department and Commander James R. Caron of Sabattus American Legion Post 135.
