Texas hold ’em

HARRISON — The Harrison Lions Club will hold a Texas hold’em tournament from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the VFW Hall, 176 Waterford Road. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Space is limited to 100 players. The entry fee is $55. Proceeds will be used to provide services to the community. For more information, call Charlie at 583-4959.

Mediumship talk

HARTFORD — Pinpoint of Light Spiritualist Center, Hartford Town Hall, 1190 Main St., will present "Mediumship, A Gift of the Spirit," throughout the month of February. On Feb. 5 at 10:30 a.m., the public is invited to explore and discuss mediumship in history. A medium is one is sensitive to vibrations from the spirit world. Socrates Cafe

WATERFORD — A Socrates Cafe gathering will be held at the Waterford Library on Monday, Feb. 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month. The group offers a forum to discuss current topics and ideas in a warm, friendly atmosphere, where divergent views will be welcome. The topic for the February meeting will be "Is The Earth Overpopulated With Humans?" The moderator will be Sally Chappell. Knitting Guild

PARIS — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will hold a Valentine party on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in South Paris. Bring valentines and a dressed bear for Outreach. For more information, call Gloria at 743-7677.
