AUBURN — Kindergarten to sixth-grade students in Androscoggin County could get a great kick-start to their college education fund by entering a design-a-poster contest during February's Children's Dental Health Month.
The contest, being offered by Center Street Dental, invites K-6 students of Androscoggin County to design and produce a poster themed “A healthy smile!”
There are two categories, Kindergarten to third grade, and fourth grade to sixth grade, with scholarship prizes awarded in each category: first place, $500; second place, $250; and third place, $150.
Scholarship prize money will be deposited into an Education Savings Account created for the winner.
Submissions can be dropped off at Center Street Dental, 26 Cross St. The contest deadline is Feb. 29 at 5 p.m., with winners announced in March.
One entry per student is permitted. Poster sizes can range from 8.5 by 11 inches (letter size) up to about 22 x 28 inches (standard poster size). The name, grade and school of entrants must be on the back of the poster.
The judges for the contest are Dr. Rosemarie Sheline from Center Street Dental, Suzanne Frigon from Central Maine Community College, Gallery 5 curator Tammie Grieshaber and Rene Minnis from Rene Minnis Photography.
