LEWISTON — The University of Southern Maine’s Franco-American Collection will continue its popular French-language sing-along sessions in 2012 with a session at USM’s Lewiston Auburn College on Thursday, Feb. 16.
The hour-long session, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., will include traditional French favorites, and the opportunity to relive the spirit of the kitchen parties of years gone-by. Words to all the songs are provided, so no knowledge of French is required. Participants of all ages are encouraged to attend.
“People come to these events for all sorts of reasons,” said collection coordinator James Myall. “Some like to remember the songs their memere would sing to them; others just appreciate the chance to catch up with old friends. It’s a great way to connect with your heritage, or to experience something new.”
In case of bad weather, the event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 23. Call the USM LAC Stormline at 753-6595 to check for cancellations.
For more information, contact USM’s Franco-American Collection at 753-6545 or franco@usm.maine.edu. USM LAC is at 51 Westminster St. The event will take place in room 170.
