Fifteen old buildings on or near Main Street in Lewiston got a lot of attention on May 5 during a walking tour of historical buildings sponsored by the Androscoggin Historical Society. Nineteen people took part in the two-hour tour, which went from Lowell's Corner (now Hospital Square) at the intersection of Sabattus and Main streets, to Mountain Avenue and back. Many of the buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places, either individually or as part of the Main Street-Frye Street Historic District. Guides were AHS members Annette Vance Dorey, David Garcelon and Douglas Hodgkin. Garcelon, center, talks about the history of the William P. Frye house at the corner of Main and Frye streets.
