Caela Waite receives full ROTC scholarship

TURNER — Caela Waite of Turner has accepted a four year, full tuition Army ROTC Scholarship to attend Norwich University in Vermont and major in civil engineering. Norwich University also awarded her with a $20,000, four year Presidential Merit Scholarship for Academics.

ROTC scholarships are awarded to high achieving students who possess leadership skills, integrity, community service involvement and participation in many sports or extracurricular activities. Caela was nominated to West Point as well as the Air Force Academy by Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, respectively, but chose Norwich for its excellent engineering program and attractive, moderate size.

Caela is the daughter of Heather Nadeau and Stanley Waite of Turner. She has attended Hebron Academy and Tripp Middle School, then Maine School of Math and Science and Leavitt Area High School, from which she graduated in June.

Having diverse hobbies and talents, Caela is a varsity softball player at Leavitt and catcher for Lewiston’s Senior League, classical/contemporary pianist, vocalist and an equestrian rider.
