BRIDGTON — Fall in New England is one of the best times to get outside and hike. Loon Echo Land Trust will lead a foliage hike on the popular Ledges Trail on Pleasant Mountain on Saturday, Oct. 13.
The five-hour moderate-difficult hike will trek to the summit and feature burst of color from swamp maples, quaking aspens and oak trees.
“This is my favorite time of year to get on the trails,” said Jon Evans, stewardship and volunteer coordinator for the land trust. “The display of color is awe inspiring from our trail system at Pleasant Mountain”
Hikers should meet Loon Echo Staff at the Ledges trailhead, approximately three miles down Mountain Road from Route 302 at 8:45 a.m. Wear proper gear for the forecasted conditions and boots with good tread. Bring energy-rich snacks and water, a camera and binoculars for bird watching.
All Loon Echo hikes are free; donations are always welcome and will qualify donors for a one-year membership. To join or find out more about Loon Echo, visit www.loonecholandtrust.org.
