Club promotes railway safety
The Great Falls Model Railroad Club of Auburn was presented with a plaque recently in recognition of the club's activities and its members by Maine Operation Lifesaver, a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to preventing tragedy along railroad tracks and at railroad crossings. The club has promoted railroad safety during its participation at model train shows throughout Maine. Additionally, six of the club's members are also certified presenters for Maine Operation Lifesaver. In that capacity, they visit schools to teach children of the dangers around railroad tracks. They also make presentations to drivers ed classes, school bus drivers and other professional drivers among others.
