Emma Samson, 9 years old, of Auburn was recently awarded the Emmy-Leigh Cole Auburn Youth Cheering scholarship. The scholarship is in remembrance of Emmy-Leigh Maryrose Cole, the daughter of Libby Roy and sister of Mikaila and Mariah St. Pierre. Emmy was a young aspiring cheerleader and an honorary mascot of Auburn Youth Cheering who died suddenly at eight months old. Recipients of this reward must exemplify enthusiasm for the sport of cheering, spirit and pride for their team and demonstrate leadership skills. The winning cheerleader's next season will be paid in full by the scholarship. From left are Mikaila St. Pierre, Libby Roy and Emma Samson.
