LEWISTON — Lewiston Housing Authority has hired Laura Personette to serve as an AmeriCorps volunteer for 2012-13. Personette will work in the Lewiston community and serve English Language Learners through mentoring, school skills support and community engagement.
Personette was hired in partnership with the Multilingual Leadership Corps, a program of Goodwill Industries of Northern New England. Funding is provided by the Corporation for National and Community Service through the Maine Commission for Community Service.
Personette will coordinate Lewiston Housing Authority’s Aspirations program at Hillview, thereby creating structures for extended learning opportunities through venues such as leadership, arts and enrichment and academic support.
