Combat flag donated

Peggy Turner, right, of the South Paris American Legion Auxiliary, presented the Stone-Smart Auxiliary with a photo, certificate and flag sent from Afghanistan. The flag was flown in a combat mission by her grandson, CW2 Will Lavendier and CW2 Josh Hattery from C Troop, TF SABER, 1st Squadron 17th Calvary. At left is Thelma Denlinger, president of the Stone-Smart Unit 82 American Legion Auxiliary of Norway. The autographed certificate has a photo of the flag flying in the OH-58D chopper during a combat mission in Konar Valley, Afghanistan, on July 4, 2012, which was a thank you gift for care packages that the troops had received from the Stone-Smart Auxiliary. The items will be framed and hang in the Stone-Smart Legion.
