LISBON — “The Box Tops 4 Education program is a big boost for the Lisbon Community School Parent Teacher Organization,” said Pamela Shane, the groups’ vice president.
“Boxtops4Education, is a fundraiser where students collect the Box Top emblems from specially-marked General Mills and other products,” she said. “This year, the school has received more than $3,357 from its Box Top collection efforts, and ranks No. 1 in Maine in collections. Nationwide, the LCS PTO is No. 317 out of more than 86,000 participating schools.”
According to Shane, LCS has set a goal to collect more than $5,500 this year from Box Tops. That's 55,000 Box Tops, which are redeemed for 10 cents each.
Box Tops are found on many General Mills Cereals, Betty Crocker cake mixes and frostings, Old El Paso products and Pillsbury refrigerator and frozen products. Kleenex brand tissue and Scott tissue are among the hundreds of brands that carry the Box Top emblem and Box Tops.
Box tops can be sent to school with a child or mailed to Lisbon Community School, 33 Mill St., Lisbon, ME 04250. Another convenient drop-off location that benefits LCS is a collection box at Food City in Lisbon Falls. Those who want to donate can also contact one of the PTO members, including Pamela Shane at email@example.com or Annette Wilson at firstname.lastname@example.org for a pickup. Additionally, members of the PTO are at the transfer station one Saturday per month during the spring and fall.
Another way to become a supporter of Lisbon Community School PTO is to register at Boxtops4Education.com. Those registered can print coupons for discounts off of General Mills products and enter to win Box Tops prizes for the school. New bonus opportunities are posted on the website regularly. Anyone interested can also keep track of the school's progress and track it against other schools in the area, the state and the nation.
