LIVERMORE FALLS — The GFWC/Livermore Falls Women's Club attended the Women's Legislative Council in Augusta on Feb. 21. The day was dedicated to Social Security.
The morning speaker was Laura Fortman from the Frances Perkins Center in Damariscotta. She gave the history of Social Security.
The afternoon speaker was Lori Parham, state director of AARP. She spoke on the future of Social Security. She also gave attendants a new book, "Social Security for Dummies." A copy of the book will be available at the Livermore Public Library.
On Feb. 22, the club met for a workshop given by Martina Eastman. She taught members how to make bracelets for the Buttons for Babies project.
On Thursday, March 21, members will again attend the Women's Legislative Council. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held at Jay Niles Library when the speaker will be Dr. Kieran from Paradigm Wellness.
