It seems however that the lot has already been purchased for the city, by whom nobody seems to know although no order had been passed previous to last evening’s meeting authorizing the purchase. When asked “Where did the money come from?” Acting Mayor Randall said it had been provided but did not know by whom.

Two Pettengill School parents initially opposed to the closing of either Frye or Wallace Schools have scheduled a meeting for parents concerned about student redistricting. When the Lewiston School Committee voted unanimously on Dec. 22 to close Frye School, no one at the meeting commented on the closing. The last time the city closed a school, Jordan School in 1983, more than 100 residents appeared at a meeting when the decision was made.
