Bluegrass band to give 'Another Great Evening of Music'

The Maranacook String Band will give “Another Great Evening of Music" concert at Leeds Community Church on Saturday, June 2.

LEEDS — Leeds Community Church will present “Another Great Evening of Music,” featuring the Maranacook String Band, on Saturday, June 2.

The bluegrass band, made up of current and former Maranacook area students, is led by nationally known bluegrass songwriter Stan Keach.

Maine Country Music Hall of Famer Al Hawkes had this to say about the group: "Great playing on acoustic instruments, marvelous solo voices and beautiful vocal harmonies."

Opening will be Lauren Hastings and her father, Steve. A classically trained violinist, Lauren recently branched out into the folk and rock scene as both a violinist and a singer. Her music ranges from bluegrass to light rock.

“Another Great Evening of Music” will begin at 7 p.m. at the church at 123 Church Hill Road. Proceeds will benefit the church's maintenance fund. Tickets, $10, will be available at the door or call 524-7151. Refreshments will be served during intermission.
