"Just Sayin'"
NEW VINEYARD — George Christie of New Vineyard has published a book, "I'm Just Sayin'," offering a comical look at Maine, from its historical origins to its people, places and culture.
Chapters explore Maine's prehistoric time, with Christie's take on what it means to be a "Maine native," colonial times and what he titles "The Boring Years: 1865-1898." Other chapters explore Maine culture and phenomena like Moxie, weather, eating lobster, sports and the "special" relationship between Maine and its neighboring state, New Hampshire.
Christie lives with his wife, Jean, and their black lab, Diesel, on a dead-end road. He was a mason by trade and later in life was a social worker for the state of Maine, a position from which he recently retired. He has over the past 10 years written a number of humorous essays and observations, some of which he compiled and published in "I'm Just Sayn'."
The book is available online through Maine Authors Publishing.
